Cannes May 18, 2014—IFC Midnight has acquired the U.S rights to The Vicious Brothers’ (Grave Encounters) hot Tribeca sci-fi horror film EXTRATERRESTRIAL from Vicarious Entertainment, Twin Engine Films and Buffalo Films. The film spurred a bidding war after its Tribeca premiere with bidders battling for the title.

EXTRATERRESTRIAL was created and written by The Vicious Brothers. Shawn Angelski and Martin Fisher are the film’s Producers along with Twin Engine films and Pink Buffalo Films. Vicarious Entertainment’s Paris Kasidokostas-Latsis and Terry Dougas financed and are Executive Producers on the film, along with Randy Manis through his ManisFilm shingle.

The film stars Brittany Allen, Freddie Stroma, Jesse Moss, and Melanie Papalia, with Gill Bellows and Michael Ironside.

CAA, which arranged financing for EXTRATERRESTRIAL, brokered the deal. Cargo Entertainment is handling foreign sales.

EXTRATERRESTRIAL follows a group of friends on a weekend trip to a cabin in the woods who find themselves terrorized by alien visitors.

Vicarious Entertainment is the genre label created by 1821 Media’s Paris Kasidokostas-Latsis and Terry Dougas (Jane Got A Gun). The company has a number of features currently in post and are planning to make the label a go-to hub for genre filmmakers where they can have freedom to showcase their vision. Vicarious is in post on the dark psychological thriller Estranged with Insidious producer and Paranormal Activity exec producer Steven Schneider. Vicarious is also working on the Day of the Dead, a remake of George Romero’s zombie extravaganza that is set at Millenium.

IFC Midnight is a sister label to IFC Films and Sundance Selects, and is owned and operated by AMC Networks Inc.
